World Summit Award 2021: Learning and Education

National Digital Library of India (NDLI ) has received an award in the Category of Learning and Education at the World Summit Award https://wsa-global.org/winner/national-digital-library-of-india/ for responding to the COVID crisis by launching two pioneering new services, ‘Study at Home’ and the ‘COVID-19 Research Repository’ WSA is a awards system, selecting and promoting local digital innovation to improve society with over 19 years of international experience


Social Media for Empowerment (SM4E) Awards 2020 - Innovation@Covid19 Winner

The SM4E Award Jury Panel has selected and recognised ‘Rising to the COVID Crisis, by National Digital Library of India as the winner in the Innovation@Covid-19 category for the year 2020-21. Dedicated to the service of the Nation, especially in these trying times - this is the 3rd award that has recognised NDLI’s monumental Covid-19 efforts.


Open Resilience Award at the Open Education Awards 2020

NDLI are the proud recipients of the Open Resilience Award at the Open Education Awards 2020. This award recognizes exemplary leadership (individual or organizational) and Open Education and activities that clearly demonstrate the implementation of open education practices to address opportunities and challenges arising from COVID-19. When India closed her doors in March 2020 - as gatekeepers of India’s knowledge economy – NDLI’s mission was not just to evolve, but to transform, overnight. Our 48 million strong repository was overhauled into a ed-tech service platform within a matter of weeks. With most of the team working from home in 2020, NDLI is proud to be at the service of the Nation at her greatest hour of need and grateful recipients of this global recognition of its efforts.

mBillionth Award 2017:

The National Digital Library of India's Android mobile app 'NDL India' was declared the winner of the mBillionth South Asia Award 2017, along with BYJU and WorldReader in the "Learning and Education" category.
The mBillionth Award South Asia is given as a recognition of excellence in mobile innovations for development.
The IIT Kharagpur-led NDL India is a single window integration over existing digital repositories with content in several Indian and foreign languages. A digital library with over 1.3 crore content in more than 200 languages, National Digital Library of India brings texts, lectures, videos, audios, presentations and all other kinds of learning material to people everywhere.
In 2010 the Digital Empowerment Foundation instituted the award in association with World Summit Awards for recognizing excellence in mobile innovations for development. The awards seek to not only reward all those who are taking initiatives to bridge the digital divide, empower people and bring about greater socio-economic equality but also create an ecosystem and network of such innovators and developers so that they can learn from each other, collaborate and scale up, the award website said.
